The 50-year-old from Stourbridge was hit by a car on the A4101 directly outside the hospital which she had just left after receiving treatment, an inquest heard.

An ambulance which was behind the vehicle which hit Mrs Williams on April 2 stopped to assist and she was confirmed dead, at the scene, said Joanna Lees, coroner for the Black Country.

The medical cause of her death was multiple severe injuries caused by trauma due to a traffic collision, Mrs Lees said.

Police said at the time the 57-year-old driver of the Range Rover stopped at the scene and was helping police with their enquiries.

The police are continuing an investigation, so the inquest was opened and adjourned until June 12, Mrs Lees said.

West Midlands Police said investigations were still ongoing as of the end of last week and the driver is assisting the investigation.
