Family of 'Fabulous Finn' thank supporters over Christmas
The family of seven-year-old 'Finn the Fabulous' have thanked all their supporters over the Christmas period.
Finley Hill, from Belbroughton, near Stourbridge, has been in hospital in the run up to the holidays.
He was diagnosed with rare immune system disorder familial HLH, which causes damaged and enlarged organs – without stem cell treatment he will die.
Earlier this year his mother Jo announced the news that, after searching the world, a successful stem cell match had come back from Brazil which gave Finley a fighting chance.
And after a long spell in hospital undergoing treatment, Finley and his family are looking forward to all being at home together for Christmas.
Thousands of people have been following his treatment via updates on his Facebook page.
Jo said: "Trying to organise Christmas from hospital, when you don’t know where you’ll be on the day, is rather manic.
"So I went home at the weekend and did a food shop, just in case we happen to be allowed home on Christmas Day, we can at least now have a Christmas dinner.
"We had exit chats yesterday so that we understand all we need to about taking Finn out of hospital.
"Thanks so much to everyone who has sent in cards & gifts, balloons and even fizz.
"I know the news can make us feel that it’s a bad world out there, but since Finn has been poorly, we have been bowled over and totally humbled by just how many selfless, caring, kind and generous people there are out there."
The family hope to be home for some of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Only two per cent of people in the UK are on the stem cell register and the fact that Finley has a rare tissue type makes finding a donor even harder.
