The horse was one of seven discovered wandering in Conference Wood, near the Crooked House pub in Himley.

Four of the horses were seized by Dudley Council's animal welfare team as they were suffering from ill health.

A spokesman for the team said one of the animals was so emaciated that they were forced to put it down.

Now the council has launched an appeal to trace the owner of the horses.

Anyone that can help out the vets is urged to call 0300 555 2345.
