The Friends Of the Fens Group, based in Dudley - which is chaired by Pensnett man Mark Giles - took part in a litter pick of the coppice off High Street, Pensnett.

The site was once a park but has become overgrown.

In preparation for the litter pick, the group and ward councillors cleared blocked off paths.

This has helped residents who are elderly and struggle with mobility to access the site.

Residents had asked for somewhere safe and accessible to walk their dogs and generally enjoy areas of natural beauty nearby including Barrow Hill and Fens Pool.

Mark said: "We had a great turn out and cleared paths of loads of litter and excess weeds.

"Unfortunately I disturbed a wasps nest in the process and got stung a fair bit but that nest will be removed to make the area safe.

"I’m grateful for the council and local councillors support in preparing the area for this work."
