Search for car driver as cyclist left fighting for life
A cyclist has been left fighting for his life after being found seriously injured on a road near Stourbridge.
Police want to trace a black BMW spotted in the area where the man was found.
The cyclist was discovered with head injuries on Broome Lane, near Clent, at around 10.40am yesterday.
A passing motorist saw a black BMW driving along the road before discovering the injured cyclist.
He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the cyclist is in an induced coma.
'Found in the middle of the road'
A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Police are appealing to the driver of a black BMW to please contact them as a potential witness after a cyclist was seriously injured near Clent.
"It is believed that the cyclist was travelling along Broome Lane near Clent, from Clent towards the Hagley direction at approximately 10.40am riding a black and red Ridley racing bike.
"The cyclist was found in the middle of the road by a passing motorist and has suffered serious head injuries.
"He has been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further assessment and treatment.
"The passing motorist noticed a black BMW travelling towards her prior to coming across the cyclist.
"Officers investigating the incident have been unable to trace this vehicle at the moment and are appealing for the driver to please come forward.
"Police are also appealing for any other witnesses that may have seen the cyclist and any vehicles on Broome Lane just prior to the incident happening to please contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 218s of 230718."
