Man charged with manslaughter one year after 20-year-old's death

Four people have been charged in connection with the death of a 20-year-old girl who fell from a car bonnet in Dudley.

Ellie Underhill died a week after suffering head injuries in the car park of Tesco Extra, off Birmingham Road, on Boxing Day 2016.

Luke Hickman, aged 19, of Wassell Road, Wollescote, has been charged with manslaughter and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Ross Bingham, 20, of Hagley Road, Edgbaston; Elly Phillips, 19, of Seymour Road, Wollescote and Hana Edwards, 18, of Grove Road, Wollescote, are accused of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

At the time of Ms Underhill's death, her family released a statement describing her as the 'life and soul of everything'.

"Our beautiful daughter Eleanor Jane Underhill was such a bubbly, lively girl and the life and soul of everything; she truly lived life to the fullest," the tribute said.

"As a family we are totally devastated and really need to find out the truth of what happened that night."

The four who have been charged are due to appear before Walsall Magistrates Court on January 10.
