Boldmere St Michaels seek former players for special reunion
The president of a non-league football club is urging past players to get in touch as part of plans for a special reunion.
Alan Parsons, president of Boldmere St Michaels, is organising a special event at the club's Church Road ground on July 30.
A Mikes will all-star team will take on a old boys team from Midland rivals Chasetown as part of the day's proceedings.
But the main focus of the day will be a reunion of former players from the club, which was first established in 1883.
Alan, a former player and manager of Boldmere, said: "It has long been an ambition of mine and chairman Rob Mallaband to get a proper old boys reunion going - an annual event.
"And having been through the challenges of the pandemic and lockdowns, it will give us something to look forward to.
"So we are planning to stage it on July 30. We'll be playing an old boys' team from Chasetown, a club we are close to."
"But the football is incidental, secondary to it really.
"We want to get the social side of the club back up and running and get it buzzing.
"This reunion would be a fantastic opportunity to get former players, managers and committee members together, from as many eras as possible.
"It would be great for people to reminisce about how good they were at Boldmere, remembering the good times. Everyone loves that bit of nostalgia.
"So I would love old players to get in touch with me. I have managed to contact some but, with others, email addresses change or mobile numbers.
"I'd love to hear from any old boys from the club."
Anyone who would like to get in touch with Alan can call him on 07593 905509.
