Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by car in Birmingham

A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Birmingham.

The man in his 40s was hit by a black VW Golf on Dolphin Lane at 12.30pm yesterday and was taken to hospital in a critical condition

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and was assisting police with their enquiries.

The road was closed between Norland Road and Shirley Road while police forensically examined the scene.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a basics emergency doctor and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called to Dolphin Lane, Acocks Green in Birmingham at 12.27pm to reports that a car and pedestrian had collided.

"On arrival crews found a pedestrian, a man, who had suffered injuries considered to be serious. Ambulance staff administered treatment on scene before he was taken to University Hospital Birmingham by land ambulance on blue lights and sirens, for further emergency treatment.”

Officers are appealing for anyone with information or with dash cam footage to contact them, so they can piece together the moments leading to this crash.
