The man, thought to be between age 45 and 50, was hit by a car as he crossed Maypole Lane near the junction of Westfield Avenue on Sunday at about 7.30pm.

The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa involved remained at the scene and is helping police with their investigations.

But the man, who is in a serious condition in hospital, was carrying no identification and despite enquiries in the area has yet to be identified.

He is 5ft 9in tall, of stocky build with light blue eyes and dark hair with a slight curl. He also has a tidy grey goatee-style beard and tanned arms, with no tattoos. He was wearing a tan-coloured leather jacket, blue jeans and white trainers with a red Nike tick.

Pc Dave Crump, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I believe the man may well be local and I would ask anyone who may know him to get in touch so we can ensure his family is aware.”

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact police quoting log 3888 of 1 November by email on FL_COLLISION_INVEST@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk, via Live Chat at www.west-midlands.police.uk or by calling 101.
