Investigation into fire in Birmingham apartment block

A multi-storey apartment building was damaged during a fire Birmingham.

Firefighters were called to the property on Hagley Road West, Quinton, just before 10pm on Tuesday.

There were no reports of injuries, while it is not yet clear how the blaze began.

West Midlands Fire Service said around 20 per cent of the first floor was damaged by fire and most of the second floor.

The property is located above a commercial premises.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "Seven fire crews and one of our hydraulic platforms were sent to the scene. The first crew arrived in five minutes.

"Once the fire had been extinguished, our crews kept a watching brief on the property overnight and made revisits on Wednesday to check for any hotspots.

"Our investigators are looking into the cause."
