Crowds flock to Birmingham Bullring to see YouTuber Canking
Hundreds of people flocked to Birmingham city centre to see a YouTuber this afternoon.
Youtuber Canking, whose real name is Jayden Gray, was holding a meet and greet with other vloggers in the Bullring shopping centre.
Young fans congregated outside shops to see the videomaker from Birmingham who has 269,000 subscribers on Youtube and more than 48,000 followers on Instagram.
Canking's videos mainly feature him doing pranks, asking people questions on the street or offering members of the public money to do challenges such as punching him in the face.
He had publicised the event on his Instagram account as "Canking's Covid Fi Dead Meet and Greet" starting at 2pm.
Under the current coronavirus rules, gatherings of more than six people who do not live in the same household are not allowed.
Superintendent Gareth Morris, of West Midlands Police, wrote on Twitter: "Numbers of groups in the city centre appear to be a result of some internet bloggers attending the city and young fans turning up hoping to see them.
"Officers in attendance and hopefully starting to resolve now."
