Last month it was revealed during a Transport Delivery Committee that the West Midlands Combined Authority was planning to name a tram in honour of Mr Carrott, in recognition of his contribution to Birmingham.

Transport for West Midlands has named metro trams after famous faces from the region in the past, with musician Ozzie Osbourne and footballer Cyrille Regis both having the honour.

And Mr Carrott, who made his name as a stand-up comedian in Birmingham in the 70s before going on to host TV shows such as Golden Balls, will be the next to receive the honour, as work continues on the expansion of the metro network.

A spokesman has confirmed that the new tram will be unveiled with a ceremony scheduled for November 13.

The exact location and time have not yet been confirmed, though, with work ongoing to determine the best place to launch the new tram.

Mr Carrott himself will be in attendance at the ceremony, with further details to follow at a later date.
