Panicked mother watches bus drive off with daughter, 5, on board
It was a moment of panic for one mother who got separated from her five-year-old daughter on a West Midlands bus.
The mother stepped off the No14 line, which runs from Birmingham to Chelmsley Wood, only to realise that her young child remained on the vehicle as it drove away.
The alarm was raised to police and officers chased the bus on blue lights for more than four miles towards Kitt's Green.
Police stopped four other buses in the process before they eventually tracked down the right one, and the mother was reunited with her daughter.
The terrifying tale was revealed by Force Response which tweeted: "Newtown officers have chased this bus for over 4 miles from the city out towards kitts green after a 5 year old got separated from her family. Mum’s complete relief was a joy to see and a happy ending all round when the child was found asleep on the bus. The gaffa even got a hug.
"Mum thought the child had stepped off the bus before her. She hadn’t. Officers blue lighted the route of the bus stopping 4 others before finding the one in question."
