Around 60 firefighters tackle 'serious' fire at Birmingham industrial site
Around 60 firefighters have tackled a "serious" fire at an industrial site in Birmingham.
Plumes of smoke could be seen from the building as four units were engulfed by the blaze in Wyrley Road, Witton.
Wyrley Road was closed off as firefighters tackled the blaze in the early hours of this morning.
The fire service urged people to keep their doors and windows closed because of smoke.
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "It was eight units in the area, on site, and there was four units involved in the fire.
"Police and fire investigation are there trying to find the origin of the fire, but they're still investigating.
"We received the call at 12.20am and we sent two in the first instance but because we got good footage from members of the public – thorough 999eye software – we were able to send more appliances early."
999eye allows the fire service to view footage, or photographs, from eye-witnesses at the scene.
The team was reduced to 40 by 6.40am this morning.
The first appliance arrived on the scene in four minutes and 29 seconds.
