Three injured in separate Birmingham crashes
Two car crashes just hours apart left two men with serious injuries and another with minor injuries.
A car had flipped onto its roof after it crashed into a lamppost and parked cars before overturning on the junction of Oxhill Road and Avenue Road in Handsworth.
The crash happened at around 2.15am today.
Glass, car parts and discarded clothing scattered the road in the aftermath of the crash.
The driver and one passenger, who were both men, managed to escape from the vehicle before emergency services arrived but suffered serious injuries.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor attended.
"Two men were given trauma care on scene by ambulance staff after suffering suspected serious injuries.
"Both were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further treatment."
Less than two hours later another car crashed into a parked car and a tree on Hamstead Road in Handsworth.
The driver suffered minor injuries after the crash just before 4am.
Images posted on social media show damage to the front of a black Vauxhall Astra, while a parked VW Golf had a small tree crushed beneath it.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 3.52am this morning to reports of an RTC on Hamstead Road, Handsworth.
"One ambulance attended and treated a man who had suffered minor injuries.
"He was taken to City Hospital for further checks."
