50 firefighters tackle 'severe' blaze at music venue
More than 50 firefighters tackled a blaze after a suspected arson attack at one of the region's most famous live music venues.
Crews were dispatched to the former Roadhouse club in Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, Birmingham, at around 9.30pm on Sunday.
They remained at the scene for several hours in what West Midlands Fire Service say was a suspected arson attack.
Four main jets and two hose reel jets were used to bring the fire under control.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said it was 'a severe fire' and added: The cause is thought to be deliberate, but investigations are still being carried out."
The venue announced last autumn that it was closing for the rest of 2017 due to having no electricity supply.
It had planned to open this year.
In recent years the club mainly put on tribute acts.
