Lucy Davis and her boyfriend Lee Jenkins were among six people killed in a smash in Birmingham in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Their taxi driver Imtiaz Mohammed, aged 33, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

And the three men travelling in an Audi car that hit the taxi have been formally named by police as Kasar Jehangir, 25, Tauqeer Hussain, 26, and 30-year-old Mohammed Fasha.

A 22-year-old friend, also a passenger in the car, remains in hospital in a serious condition.

West Midlands Police crash investigators continue to look at the circumstances of the smash that happened in Lee Bank Middleway at 1.10am.

The couple had opted to take a taxi home after their night out with friends, claimed Lucy's sister, Alison Worth, in a heartbreaking post on social media.

Lucy, aged 43 from Kingstanding, who is believed to have two children and worked as a British Sign Language interpreter, is thought to have been killed instantly.

Her boyfriend Lee, 42, later died in hospital.

A tribute issued by Lucy's family read: "Lucy was a beautiful and fun-loving mother, daughter, sister, auntie and friend who brought happiness to the lives of all she met. Rest in Peace our Lady in Red.”

In an emotional Facebook post, Alison told family and friends that the couple would have been wearing seatbelts, as Lucy would refuse to get in any vehicle that did not have working seatbelts.

Her post, written early on Tuesday morning, read: "As some of you already know it was my beautiful, kind and lovely sister Lucy who died in the taxi on Saturday night when she and her boyfriend Lee had ended a lovely day and evening out with friends.

"Life is cruel.

"The pain we are enduring is almost unbearable.

"Please people always be kind, as you just never know what will happen next.

"They were in a taxi as they wouldn't think of driving. They were wearing seatbelts as Lulu wouldn't get in a car if the seatbelts didn't work.

"They were happy. They were great together and had so many plans.

"You will always be in my heart and my thoughts. I miss you so much x"

The National Union of British Sign Language Interpreters, which Lucy is believed to have been a member of, released a tribute, saying: "NUBSLI are so sad to hear about the tragic passing of Lucy Davis, trainee BSL interpreter, and her husband. Sending our love and best wishes to all her family and friends at this difficult time."

And Birmingham Communications company cSeeker.co.uk tweeted: "So saddened to hear of the death of local interpreter Lucy Davis in last weekend's horrific multiple car crash in Birmingham that killed six people. Tragic news, sincere condolences to Lucy's family and friends."

The scene of the crash

Sergeant Alan Hands, from the force’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our investigations continue as we work to establish exactly what happened.

"We have spoken to several drivers and potential witnesses but would still like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to us.
