Train lines shut after woman hit by train at Shenstone

Trains were cancelled between Lichfield and Birmingham New Street today after a woman was hit by a train.

Bus replacement services were organised after the lines were shut at Shenstone where emergency services were on the scene shortly after 9am.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the Shenstone area after reports that a woman had been struck by a train. Officers from the BTP and Staffordshire Police attended at 9.16am and the circumstances are currently being treated as non-suspicious.

"Medics and local ambulance teams were also in attendance but the woman was sadly already deceased.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner."
