CCTV released after Handsworth knife attack
CCTV has been released of a man police want to trace in connection with an unprovoked knife attack.
The incident, which saw a man suffer a serious throat injury after he was slashed with a knife, took place in Soho Road, Handsworth at 12.36pm on Thursday (july6).
The victim, a 52-year-old man, was approached as he sat on a bench by a man armed with a knife who then slashed his throat.
He was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries.
Police said the offender was described as black or mixed-race, with short hair and was wearing blue shorts and a light t-shirt.
Detective Constable Lewis Poppitt from Birmingham Central Investigation Team, said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack, I am anxious to trace this man and ask for any witnesses to contact me.
"In particular, I would like to urge a lady who was in the area at the time and may have seen what happened to come forward, she is described as being Asian and wearing a blue head scarf."
