Tim Thursfield's four-minute film paints a picture of near-empty town and city centres left dormant under the coronavirus restrictions.

Tim filmed some of the most recognisable parts of Cannock, Dudley, Stafford, Walsall, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton, capturing the sense of emptiness with his drone camera.

The markets of Cannock, Dudley, West Bromwich and Walsall, usually teeming with life and activity, look empty and deserted.

Dudley Street in Wolverhampton, usually one of the busiest shopping streets in the city, has just a few people shopping for essentials, while Stafford appears almost deserted, apart from a group of pigeons.

"As a photographer, it's one of those times when you know moving images work better than stills, especially when you slow it down and put a soundtrack on it," Tim explained.

"It just makes it clear of what's going on in the world right now."

Tim said he wanted to help illustrate the impact the unprecedented situation is having on the region.

He added: "I feel strongly that we should be documenting it and to document it in moving images rather than still images seemed a lot more powerful.

"This is probably something that we will never see again in our time, but I felt it was important to create a powerful visual of what is happening right now."
