No new coronavirus deaths announced in region's hospitals

No further coronavirus deaths have been confirmed in hospitals in the Black Country, Birmingham or Staffordshire.

It means the total number of Covid hospital deaths in the region remained at 7,575, after the latest figures were released by the NHS on Friday.

On top of this, a total of 1,397 people have died in the region's care homes after contracting coronavirus.

NHS England confirmed a further 14 deaths on Friday, meaning 86,945 have now died in the country's hospitals after testing positive for Covid.

A total of 800 people have died at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, 736 at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust and 720 at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

Meanwhile, 1,712 have died at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and 1,168 have died at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

And a total of 2,607 people have died at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The trust runs the Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope hospitals.

A total of 40,800,604 vaccinations have been carried out across England to date – including first and second doses.

In the Midlands, 5,512,478 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered, while 2,241,767 second doses have been carried out.

The data includes vaccinations carried out between December 8 and April 29.
