More than 633,000 people in the region have had the first dose – but there are still eligible people who have not come forward, health bosses said.

It comes as people aged 40 and over are now being invited to get their Covid-19 vaccine.

Sally Roberts, Chief Nurse for Black Country and West Birmingham CCGs, said: “We are pleased to be able to invite everyone aged 40 and over to come and get their Covid-19 vaccine.

“We want to ensure everyone in an eligible group has had the chance to get protected, especially those who are most at risk of serious illness.

“If you have already been offered a jab but have not taken it up it is not too late. Please come forward and we will get you booked in. I urge all those people with underlying health conditions, carers, health and social care and care home staff who have not yet been vaccinated, to contact the NHS and make an appointment now.”

Across the region the NHS has now vaccinated 89 per cent of people aged 45 and over.

In addition, more than 220,000 local people have now received both doses of the vaccine.

Appointments can be booked by calling 119 or online at nhs.uk/covid-vaccination

You can also book at your local vaccination service by contacting your GP.
