McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands was originally due to open in September 2020 but the date was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now the new date has been announced to coincide with the latest relaxation of lockdown, when non-essential shops can reopen.

It comes nearly three years after work on the project started and five years after planning permission was granted. Nearby roads have been revamped and access routes changed to cater for the development.

Centre manager, Mike Thomas, said: “We’re delighted to confirm that McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands will officially open next Monday 12th April from 10am when non-essential retail re-opens in the UK. We cannot wait to welcome our first visitors in our Covid-secure shopping environment and we will have lots more information for customers over the coming days."

Owners McArthurGlen say the new shopping centre at Mill Green is bringing 1,000 new jobs to the area.

Major brands coming to the centre include Adidas, Nike, Kurt Geiger, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Ted Baker, Hugo Boss and Joules, while food chains includeFive Guys, Wagamama and Starbucks.

The centre will also feature a children’s play area, a dancing fountain, bicycle parking, electric car charging points, beehives, and access to the adjacent nature reserve.

The date was confirmed shortly after photos were released showing how a playground and art sculpture at the site will look.
