Non-urgent outpatient appointments rearranged at hospital to cope with increase in Covid patients
Non-urgent outpatient work and day case activity has been rearranged at a Black Country hospital to help cope with the increasing number of Covid-19 patients being admitted.
Bosses at Russells Hall Hospital say it will allow staff to be redeployed to support other priorities.
Urgent work, including cancer appointments, will continue.
Diane Wake, chief executive at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said: "As Covid cases continue to rise and we admit increasing numbers of patients, we have rearranged all non-urgent outpatient work and day case activity to allow staff to be redeployed to support other priorities.
"We will continue with all urgent work including cancer while we deal with the anticipated additional Covid-related demand we will see over the next few weeks.
"We will recover and restore our normal pattern of provision as soon as possible."
