The Stafford hospice, which cares for around 1,300 people with life-limiting conditions, launched an emergency appeal at the end of September, revealing it needed to raise £1 million to remain open after being hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

More than £46,000 was raised in the first two days, and this has now jumped up to £499,180.

More Covid-19 coverage:

The charity has previously announced it would be closing four of its charity shops to help with costs – including stores in Stone, Cannock and Norton Canes.
