Coronavirus: Further 35 deaths at Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire hospitals
A further 35 coronavirus patients have died in hospitals in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
In total, 3,601 people have now died in the region's hospitals after contracting Covid-19.
A further 770 have died with coronavirus in care homes in the region since the pandemic began.
In England, the NHS recorded 338 new deaths in hospitals in figures released on Friday, bringing the death toll in the country's hospitals to 39,908. It included 79 in the Midlands region.
In today's figures, 16 more deaths were announced at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs County Hospital in Stafford, bringing the total to 585.
Another seven deaths were confirmed at the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, where the death toll increased to 551.
Four more deaths were recorded at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase hospitals, where the death toll has now increased to 360.
A further two deaths were confirmed at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Walsall Manor Hospital, where 341 people have died after catching the disease.
One death was announced at the North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, where the total of deaths increased to nine.
And a total of five deaths were announced at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals, where the total stands at 1,326.
No new deaths were announced at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital, where the total remains at 350.
Elsewhere, four more deaths were confirmed at the Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.
A spokesman for NHS England said: "A further 338 people, who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 39,908.
"Patients were aged between 31 and 105 years old. All except 12 – aged 45 to 93 years old – had known underlying health conditions.
"Date of death ranges from September 30, to November 26.
"Their families have been informed."
