The site in Stafford, as well as sites in Stoke-on-Trent and Burton, have been set up Staffordshire County Council and the NHS following a shortage in national testing capacity.

The sites are only available for residents who live in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent who are displaying symptoms.

People should try the national system first, and if there are no slots available, the community testing sites will be open for bookable test appointments between 9.30am and 3.45pm. Only 200 tests are available each day. Residents are urged not to turn up without an appointment.

More Covid-19 coverage:

Dr Johnny McMahon, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for health, care and wellbeing, said: “We will continue to work hard with all our partners to offer the best solution possible locally, to what is proving a challenging picture nationally.

“It is important we strive to get as many people as possible who need a test that opportunity. It is equally critical that county and city residents follow all the national guidelines and correctly self-isolate if they test positive”.

The Stafford site, which is based at the Kingston Centre, off Fairway, is open on Fridays.
