Smethwick school which closed over Covid scare to reopen after negative test result
A Smethwick primary school which closed to about 400 students after a coronavirus scare will reopen on Wednesday.
Crocketts Community Primary School closed to students in in Years 1 to 6 on Monday and Tuesday after a staff member was suspected of having Covid-19.
However, a test result for the affected staff member has come back negative meaning the school will reopen to students tomorrow.
Head teacher Lynne Paino said: "We’re thrilled to be able to welcome all of our children back tomorrow.
"We have very strong infection control measures in place to ensure our pupils are as safe as they possibly can be. I’d like to thank all of our children, parents, guardians and carers for being so understanding."
Sandwell’s Director of Public Health Lisa McNally added: "The staff at Crocketts Community Primary are to be commended for reacting swiftly and robustly to this situation.
"By doing so they minimised risk to the school pupils, staff and local community."
