No new hospital Covid deaths in region for seventh day

No new coronavirus deaths have been reported in hospitals across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire for the seventh day running.

And just one Covid-19 death was reported across hospitals in England on Sunday.

The total number of people who have died in the region's hospitals from coronavirus remains at 2,561. A further 696 have died in care homes.

In the Black Country, the highest death toll remains at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, with 382 fatalities.

A total of 287 have died at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase hospitals, while 264 have died at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall hospital. A total of 230 have died at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

At the University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust, which runs County Hospital in Stafford and Royal Stoke University Hospital, 355 people have died; while at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, the largest trust in the region, stands at 972.
