The trial facility, in the car park of Graiseley Strengthening Families Hub, in Pool Street, will offer people tests without the need for an appointment.

John Denley, Wolverhampton's director of public health, said: "Ensuring residents and key workers can get tested for Covid-19 is a key part of our battle against coronavirus and we are pleased to be able to increase our testing capacity still further by opening this pop-up test centre.

"The message is clear, if you have got symptoms of Covid-19 – a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – or you or you feel you have put yourself at risk of exposure to Covid-19, you simply must get a test.

More Covid-19 coverage:

"You can do this by booking an appointment at www.gov.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119 or, over the next few days, by visiting our temporary walk through service in Graiseley, for which you will not need an appointment."

The walk through centre is open today between 11am and 4pm, Thursday between 10am and 4pm, Friday from 12pm noon to 5pm and Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
