No new coronavirus deaths in Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire
No new coronavirus deaths have been announced in hospitals in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire for the second time this week.
It means the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the region's hospitals remains at 2,518.
A further 600 people have died in care homes across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire, after nine new deaths were announced on Tuesday.
Meanwhile the UK-wide death toll, which includes deaths in and out of hospital, increased by 176 to 43,906 today.
The number of deaths in hospitals in England went up by 50 to 28,759 but none of the new deaths happened in the Black Country, Birmingham or Staffordshire.
It comes as new government figures reveals the true rate of new coronavirus cases in boroughs across the country. The information, valid for the week up to June 21, includes data from tests not published each day on the Government's coronavirus website.
So far a total of 285 deaths have been confirmed at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase hospitals, while 263 coronavirus patients have died at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital.
At the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, 377 have been confirmed to have died, while there has been 224 deaths at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, in charge of the Manor Hospital.
At the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs Stafford’s County Hospital and Royal Stoke University Hospital, a total of 345 people have died.
And 955 people have died at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals.
A total of 302 patients have died in hospitals across Worcestershire.
A spokesman from NHS England said: "A further 50 people, who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,759.
"Patients were aged between 52 and 97 years old. Two patients, aged 52 and 63 years old, had no known underlying health conditions.
"Their families have been informed."
The daily hospital figures include Covid-19 patients whose deaths were confirmed in the previous 24 hours, not who died in that period.
