Wolverhampton patient only new hospital death in Black Country and Staffordshire

One more coronavirus patient was confirmed to have died in Wolverhampton today but no new deaths were announced elsewhere in the region.

The death of the patient was announced at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase hospitals, where 284 people have now died with Covid-19.

No new patient deaths were reported at any other hospital trusts across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire

It means 2,486 people have now died with Covid-19 in the region's hospitals and 582 people have died in care homes.

The UK-wide death toll, which includes deaths in and out of hospital, increased by 15 to 42,647 today.

A further 20 people were announced to have died in hospitals in England, bringing the confirmed number of deaths to 28,338.

There were no further deaths at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs Stafford's County Hospital and Royal Stoke University Hospital. The total number of deaths remains at 335.

There were also no deaths at Dudley Group NHS Trust where 261 people have died, none at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, where the total remains at 220.

No further deaths were reported at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell and City hospitals, where the total stands at 371.

The total for University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust also remains at 946.
