The world champion boxer, 33, paid a visit to nurses and doctors at Walsall Manor Hospital alongside rough sleepers living in the West Midlands.

A make-shift distribution hub was set-up at Pound 4 Pound boxing club, Walsall, to send out the parcels.

Khan has previously visited the gym to holding training sessions and work with youngsters in a bid to tackle knife crime.

The kind-hearted gesture was done through his Amir Khan Foundation.

Khan's charitable group has delivered 15,000 packages nationwide so far.

Ahead of the visit, he told the Express & Star: "We are going to be distributing food parcels to vulnerable people in Walsall and Birmingham that need it.

"We are going to be dropping off at hospitals and to key-workers to show our appreciation.

The packages were sent out from the boxing gym, on Stafford Street, to locations around Walsall and beyond.

Khan was joined by Walsall North MP Eddie Hughes.

He continued: "Pound 4 Pound called me and said they'd like to do something with the foundation.

"I said make sure the gym is nice and clean and we can do a food distribution hub from there.

"I want to thank them for asking me to come down and help the community in Walsall.

"Without them, it would not be possible."

In an update on his Facebook page, Khan said: "Amazing day at Pound 4 Pound Boxing Academy in Walsall today.

"Thanks to Walsall MP Eddie Hughes for helping out. Special recognition and appreciation to Pound 4 Pound Boxing Academy for partnering with the Amir Khan Foundation."
