Artist's Black Country-themed messages to 'bostin' NHS staff
An artist known for putting motivational posters on city streets across the world has sent notes, with a Black Country twist, to NHS staff in the region.
Andy Leek, 34 from Swindon in Staffordshire, is behind Notes To Strangers, a public arts project in which he leaves colourful and positive messages for people to walk past in their daily lives.
Notes to Black Country-based NHS staff include: “Nuno had a dream, they will find a vaccine", "You're the best in the Midlands (Wolves second best)", "You'm bostin'" and "You're as loved as Nuno".
More than 1,300 posters have been sent to hospitals across the country for staff to post in break rooms, kitchens, corridors and offices.
Andy said: "The project is about, for and inspired by NHS staff. They are the best of us. Extraordinary people who risk their physical and emotional wellbeing to pick us up when we fall, regardless of age, wealth or race.
"I had some requests from a couple of NHS staff who are currently working in New Cross and Russells Hall. I took it as a chance to write some extra special Black Country themed notes, as a part of my nationwide campaign.
"Being from the Black Country myself, I wrote the notes knowing how special the people are - there's so much warmth, humour and community, but at the same time, grit, work ethic and strength.
"I was trying to find the highest praise possible for the NHS staff and the unbelievable job they are doing.
"When I wrote 'you're as loved as Nuno', it was actually a re-write from 'you're MORE loved than Nuno' - changed because I realised it's not actually possible to be more loved than Nuno.
"I would love to send more to NHS staff in the area, so if anyone reading this would like some to display for their work, please get in touch with me on Instagram with your name and a postal address.
"They are not for sale, only available free for any NHS staff member."
