Marnie Taylor, from Sedgley, wanted to turn her passion for baking in a way to help front line workers.

Now she is baking a cake and later raffling it off through Facebook to people in the area to raise vital funds.

Gemma Taylor, her mother, said: "Marnie has been baking most days, if allowed, and we're all a bit tired of eating the cakes.

"So she came up with the idea to raffle the cakes off – one a week – for the NHS.

"She's been making every single cake possible – she'll see a recipe and then she'll do it from that."

Marnie, who is always watching baking programmes, has so far raised £100 and plans to raise as much money as possible each week.

The cake is auctioned off to people in the area through Facebook – so they can either collect, or it can be delivered to them.

The Alder Coppice Primary School student, who is in Year 5, has been supported by her mother, seven-year-old sister Hattie and 45-year-old father Craig.

Mrs Taylor, aged 41, added: "I occasionally bake cakes and I've done cupcakes, but Marnie has always shown a passion for baking.

"It's just a real talent that she seems to have and I'm really proud of her.

"To be honest, she just thoroughly enjoys baking and she's been sharing it with her friends.

"It makes you feel very very proud and it's for such a good cause as well."
