55 more coronavirus deaths across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire
Another 55 people have died in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire after testing positive for coronavirus– a rise on yesterday's lower total of 28.
It brings the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the region to 1,552.
The overall number of deaths in hospitals in the UK for people who tested positive for coronavirus now stands at 17,337 - up from 16,509 yesterday.
Patients were aged between 22 and 103 years old. A total of 24 of the 778 patients – aged between 49 and 91 years old – had no known underlying health conditions.
A further seven deaths were reported at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell and City Hospitals, bringing the total to 252.

Another five deaths were at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, increasing the total to 212.
There were two more deaths at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, a rise to 130.
And there were 12 deaths at University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust, which runs Stafford's County Hospital and Royal Stoke Hospital, making a new total of 139.
No deaths were reported at Dudley Group NHS Trust today.
There were also 27 deaths reported at University Hospitals Birmingham, taking the total to 627, and two further deaths at Birmingham Community Healthcare, an increase to 17.
