Running duo raise thousands for Wolverhampton NHS trust
Two dedicated marathon runners from Wolverhampton are clocking up 100 miles in aid of the NHS Trust - dressed as Peppa Pig and the Pink Panther.
Stuart Bailey and Earl Edwards, both 47, from Codsall, are working towards the ambitious goal by running around their neighbourhood, while maintaining social distancing rules, to raise funds for the The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.
The pair are serial charity fundraisers and have been running marathons for more than 10 years dressed in various themed costumes, raising upwards of £60,000 for a number of charities.
Earl also works as a care worker at the Willows Care Home in Codsall.
Stuart, store manager at Cargill in Bilbrook, said: "We have been out every Monday and Thursday social distance running aiming to trot down every road within our local area.
"We're doing this to raise funds to help the staff and key workers at New Cross Hospital who are doing extraordinary work.
"We have 63 miles of roads left to do before end of April to hit 100 miles from Bilbrook to New Cross Hospital.
"We have raised so many smiles and laughter in these dark, testing, lock down days and using our exercise to its max."
Budgens in Bilbrook has also been helping the pair by raising awareness for their challenge as well as a £1,000 donation and fundraising buckets in store.
Stuart added: "We originally set a target of £200 but within a few days we were amazed by the support from everyone and literally smashed the target and continually growing."
The pink pair have now raised more than £3,000 with Gift Aid, which is still increasing.
Stuart and Earl are preparing to run their final two miles around the grounds of New Cross Hospital as a way to thank staff.
