In a statement on Facebook, Mary Stevens Hospice said: "As you may already be aware, there is a problem with the supply of PPE to almost everyone working in the healthcare environment.

"At Mary Stevens Hospice, we have been trying to source fluid resistant surgical masks (FRSMs) from many different suppliers with limited success. This sort of mask are the same that are used in a variety of jobs – tattoo artists, nails bars, dentists, vets, etc.

"We appeal to our community, supporters and local businesses to help us protect our patients and staff during this unprecedented time.

"If you are able to donate masks to us, or know of anywhere we can obtain them from, please contact us."
