Lucy, 10, runs 10K in back garden for New Cross Hospital
A 10-year-old Wolverhampton girl has run 10 kilometres in her back garden to buy supplies for the A&E where her mother works.
Lucy Noble, from Oxley, ran 2K a day from Wednesday to Sunday last week and managed to raise almost £1,600.
The Claregate Primary School pupil has bought hand creams, face masks, lip balm, sweets and breakfast bars with the funds raised, and delivered it to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton on Tuesday.
Lucy wanted to bring a bit of fun to the challenge, so dressed as a princess one day, did a Bilston Swimming Club run another, dressed in a swimming costume and hat, and attempted to take the family's reluctant dog on a run another day.
Her father, Colin Noble, said: "We were all sat around last week and Lucy said she was thinking of doing it.
"We put it out on social media and within an hour we'd raised £400 and she hadn't even started it.
"We started doing 2km a day and ran 10km in total in the back garden.
More Covid-19 coverage:
"On the last day I dressed up as a nurse and my wife Jennifer put on her scrubs and we joined in too.
"We've had a great bit of fun doing it.
"We're just shy of raising £1,600 at the moment, but we've got more coming in still.
"As soon as all the videos were shared of her running we got lots of donations.
"At that point we thought if we raised £500 we'd be happy."
Lucy said: "I was really happy after finishing because of how much I'd raised and what I could spend it on.
"One of the nights my mum started talking about it and I thought it would be nice to give them some things to help."
