Sandwell Council pledge over sanitary products
Sandwell Council is appealing for period products to give out to women struggling to get supplies during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The council was already addressing period poverty in the borough before coronavirus hit.
They launched #GirlCodeSandwell, in partnership with schools and the NHS, providing free sanitary products.
Now there is an urgent need to make them available to women and girls in the borough dealing with self-isolation.
Sandwell Council leader, Councillor Yvonne Davies, said: "Periods don’t stop for pandemics.
More Covid-19 coverage:
“Tampons, pads and reusable sanitary products are essential products and we want to make sure that no one is struggling to get hold of them.
“We’re putting together a wishlist for donations, in response to our wonderful donors asking what we need most – and this would be one of our top ten.
“I want to thank everyone once again for all your donations, the generosity of people in Sandwell never ceases to amaze.”
