Two more patients in Dudley die after testing positive for coronavirus
Two more patients have died in Dudley after testing positive for coronavirus - brining the total number of confirmed cases in the borough to six.
Health chiefs announced today that the patients - one in their 80s and another in their 90s - died after being treated for underlying health conditions.
It means that four people have now died in Dudley after testing positive for Covid-19 following the outbreak worldwide.
Diane Wake, chief executive of the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said: "The Trust can confirm that two more patients, one in their 80s and one in their 90s, being treated for underlying health conditions have died. The patients had tested positive for Covid-19.
"The families have been informed and our condolences and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
"We will not be commenting further and ask that everybody respects the families’ privacy."
The first positive case in Dudley was announced eight days ago; before the first fatality, involving a patient in their 70s, was confirmed on Wednesday.
On Sunday, a patient in their 80s became the second fatality in Dudley after they tested positive for Covid-19. Both patients had underlying health conditions.
