The Care Quality Commission (CQC) carried out an unannounced focused inspection of the medicine core service at the hospital, which is run by Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, to follow up on a warning notice regarding medicines management which had been issued to the trust last October.

It took place in June and the findings from the inspection have been published in a report today.

Following this latest inspection, the watchdog found some improvements had been made in the safe management of medicines, however not all the requirements of the warning notice had been fully met and the trust was issued with a requirement notice.

The overall rating for Manor Hospital remained as ‘requires improvement’ following the inspection.
