Initial work to build the “Staffordshire Specialist Care Centre” started in July last year and will welcome residents in 2022.

The centre, on the former County Grounds site on Cannock Road, Cannock will also cater for people with dementia and nursing care.

The three-storey care home, when complete, will include cinemas, a cafe or bar, sensory rooms, hair and nail salon and other features.

Cheri Law, the director of operations for Restful Homes Group, said last year when work was starting: “We are delighted that work has begun at Staffordshire Specialist Care Centre, not least because this impressive development reflects our commitment to improving the provision of complex needs in the area.

“Having worked in the sector for more than 20 years I am truly excited at this new project which marks a quantum leap in the quality of care home accommodation for the older people of Cannock and the wider Staffordshire region.”

Steven Hodgson, contracts manager at Wildgoose Construction, added: “We have undertaken many projects for Restful Homes.

“We have developed a mutual understanding of their expectations and quality standards required in their care and extra care homes.”

Work will also see spacious gardens on the ground and first floor and a roof garden of over 6000 square foot for the peaceful enjoyment of residents.
