MAXIMUS FOUNDATION UK donated the grant to Acorns Children's Hospice which operates in Walsall.

The foundation is the charitable arm of MAXIMUS UK.

Last year Acorns Children's Hospice launched a campaign to raise £2,000,000 after a gap in funding from the NHS.

The grant will help fund nursing care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, as well as pay for staff who provide support to family members.

Di Briggs, chairman of MAXIMUS Foundation UK, said: "We are honoured to be awarding a grant to Acorns Children’s Hospice. It’s a pleasure to support the amazing team at Acorns, and to play a role in helping the hospice to meet its fundraising target."

Rachel Learmonth, major gift officer at Acorns Children’s Hospice, said: "We are delighted to receive this grant from MAXIMUS Foundation UK. Its donation of £2,500 means the world to the staff and children and we will put this to work straight away, to help families who need the hospice."
