Sandwell Council draws up plans to become carbon neutral
Council bosses have drawn up plans to make Sandwell carbon neutral by 2040.
Proposals include encouraging people to car-share and use motor vehicles with low or zero emissions.
It comes as the borough has higher levels of pollution than the national average.
Sandwell Council will also begin a 20-week consultation on January 20 asking people for their ideas.
The local authority has set a target of reducing 4.6 tons of pollution per resident over the next three decades.
Sandwell has set out its plans in a paper called the Climate Change Strategy, which will feature an initiative called the Air Quality Action Plan.
Other proposals in the action plan include encouraging taxi drivers to use greener vehicles and for residents to do more walking and cycling.
A report on the plans will be discussed at a cabinet meeting on January 8.
