Care company rated top marks by inspectors
A Black Country-based at-home care company is celebrating as it has been awarding an outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission .
Home Instead Dudley and Sandwell South achieved the highest possible rating in the categories of effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership.
Inspectors noted that "caregivers were described as the 'heartbeat of the service' which was led by an inspiring provider who promoted a positive and inclusive culture".
As part of the inspection process, the inspectors spoke to various members of staff, clients and their families. One client said: “I feel so safe with them [caregivers]. I can trust them in my home.”
Another client said: “They are so kind and lovely. I couldn’t wish for better people coming in. I can’t fault one of them, they are absolutely marvellous.”
Inspectors found evidence that people’s care, treatment, and support achieved outstanding outcomes that were "consistently better than expected compared to similar services."
Maggie Hannelly, head of adult social care inspection in CQC's central region, said: "Inspectors were impressed by the level of care provided during our inspection.
"Staff received excellent training and used their knowledge to make people's lives better. People had a designated set of caregivers who provided all their calls and who knew them extremely well.
“This meant they were able to notice any subtle changes in a person's health and seek immediate healthcare support. People told us about the exceptional care and support they received from extremely kind and compassionate staff went out of their way to make their lives better.
“People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests.
“All of this makes this an outstanding service and the provider and staff are to be commended for their hard work.”
Susan Love, community engagement director at Home Instead, said: "We want to empower people to have a choice. People often simply do not know about the services available within the local area and we wanted to change that.”
Julie and Ian Williams, co-owners of Home Instead, added: "We are beyond thrilled to have achieved an outstanding rating from the CQC in our latest inspection.
"Reading all the comments and stories in the report from clients, staff, family members, and health care professionals has been overwhelming, and we are so proud of our entire team for working so hard to provide a first class service to all of our clients, bringing a peace of mind to their family members as well.”
Home Instead provides care and support for older people living in their own homes, some of these people were living with dementia. The service was last inspected in 2017, when it also received a rating of Good.
