Members from across the region have come together to celebrate the special occasion – and to promote the message of "hospice care for all".

Five teams from the region will take part – including Compton Care in Wolverhampton, Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge, Birmingham St Mary's Hospice, John Taylor Hospice in Birmingham, Marie Curie in the West Midlands.

They will be joined by St Richard's Hospice in Worcester and St Giles Hospice in Lichfield.

The groups will host a float in the parade on May 25 to spread their message.

Alice Spearing, a spokesperson for the group, said: “Research shows people who identify as LGBT are more likely to have poorer health outcomes and are less likely to engage in healthcare in fear of discrimination, stigma and isolation.

“Each of the hospices involved is committed to widening the reach and access of their support for the LBGT community with different projects taking place at the different hospices.

“Love Out Loud is the theme for Birmingham Pride this year – 'a celebration of our right to love, not only other people, but ourselves too, and to do it loud'.

“As hospices, we want to support this theme as we provide compassion, warmth and person-centered care to meet individual’s needs.”

Dozens of staff and volunteers from the hospice will be on-board and walking alongside the float.

The parade begins at Victoria Square at noon.

The hospice group will be tweeting using the hashtag #HospicePride throughout the event.
