Staffordshire Day Surgery will be an extension of services already offered at Rowley Hall Hospital, three miles away.

The day surgery facility is due to open in March 2020 and will provide services for private, insured and NHS patients within the local community and further afield.

The new facility will include a theatre and recovery area, six day-patient pods, three outpatient consulting rooms, two pre-assessment rooms and a minor treatment room offering treatment for pain management, urology, endoscopy and ophthalmology (eye care).

This development will also create new jobs, with about 23 vacancies in nursing, nursing support, clinical, administration and support services, with many opportunities for training and professional development.

Lisa Powell, hospital director at Rowley Hall Hospital will initially oversee the management of the new facility and believes that it will not only meet the communities’ high demand for its services but also become a community hub.

Mrs Powell said: “Not only will this bring new jobs to the area, it will also build on Rowley Hall Hospital’s clinical reputation to continue to provide high quality care for the people of Staffordshire.”

Dr Andy Jones, CEO of Ramsay Health Care UK attended the official ground breaking ceremony said: “I am delighted we are able to support the local health community in Stafford with this development, and our team will be able to continue to provide great care to our patients in a day case model.

"The support in our investment of this facility from the local NHS Trust has been fantastic and its partnership with Ramsay in the interests of the local communities we serve.”
