Dudley Town visited the children's ward and elderly at Russells Hall Hospital, where they donated more than 80 gifts.

It is the 13th year the initiative has been run and club chairman Steve Austin says the event getting bigger and better each year.

He said: "Our visit to the hospital was absolutely great as always. It is the nice and right thing for us to do. We are a community-focused club.

"To put a smile on children's faces and the parents means a lot."

The presents were bought using money which was donated by their sponsors Black Country Training Group and Cushillo Personnel, players, friends and family of the club.

This week the club also donated a 'significant amount' of food and thermal clothing for homeless people to Leslie's Care Packages for the Homeless.

Parents got in touch after their hospital visit to thank them.

Steve was joined by Jason Connon, the club's commercial manager, goalkeeper Ash Horton and full-back Lewis Mitchell.

Steve said: "Our visit just gets bigger and better each year. Our primary visit was to the children's ward. The presents went not only to children in the ward this evening, but those that will unfortunately be going over Christmas.

"I also visited the elderly care where I delivered a luxury hamper and bought biscuits for the staff and patients.

"We also donated a significant amount of food and thermal clothing in the week, that was a significant amount."

Dudley Town, known as 'The Robins', play in the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division, which is the 10th tier of English football.

The club lies second from bottom in the table, but Steve hopes their fortunes will turn around in the New Year.
