A metal paper waste container was stolen from the back of the Russells Hall Hospital at 6.45pm on October 5.

Hospital bosses have said that confidential information could have been potentially mixed in with the general paper recycling when it was stolen - which is typically collected daily.

The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust chief executive Diane Wake said: "Mixed paper waste is collected daily in green plastic bags and sent for shredding and recycling.

"There may have been some confidential information mixed in with the general paper recycling but we cannot confirm exactly what was in the container."

Speaking to the Express and Star last month, chief executive Diane Wake said the trust was 'actively helping' West Midlands Police in their investigation.

The incident is still being investigated by West Midlands Police and anyone with information is urged to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
